Accident Report

May 31, 2026, one person was killed as the result of a hit-and-run accident at around 7:08 a.m. along Highway 71.

Authorities said that the accident took place near the intersection of Highway 71 and County Road 1209. According to officials, a 27-year-old man was on foot at the time along the highway. A vehicle was going southbound, and it struck the man.

The pedestrian sustained serious injuries due to the accident. The driver reportedly left the scene.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s not clear right now if authorities ever identified the runaway driver. That’s obviously a big component of finding out the cause of an accident like this. A lot of the situations like this I’ve seen end up involving alcohol, drugs, or a driver who was otherwise doing something they didn’t want police to find out about.
