Accident Report

Atchison County, MO — August 4, 2026, two people were injured in a truck accident at about 1:30 p.m. on Interstate 29 north of Corning.

Authorities said a northbound 2020 Volvo semi-truck went off the right side of the road near mile marker 100.2 and crashed into the trailer of a 2026 Freightliner semi-truck that was parked on the shoulder.

The Volvo driver, a 50-year-old woman from Galloway, OH, was seriously injured in the crash, according to authorities.

The Freightliner driver, a 64-year-old man from Laplace, LA, suffered moderate injuries, authorities said.

Authorities have not released any additional information about the Atchison County crash at this time.

Why did the Volvo semi-truck go off the road? Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Did the truck have an issue with its steering mechanism? Was the Freightliner semi-truck parked legally?
