How Did This Accident Occur?
Any single-vehicle accident early in the morning is going to bring up immediate concerns for things like distracted driving, unsafe speeds, and fatigue. Those are just the most common reasons a crash like this happens. The problem is when people (especially authorities) jump to conclusions without considering other possible explanations.
Tire blowouts, medical conditions, poorly maintained roads, objects or animals in the road, vehicle defects—these are all just as worth an investigation as, say, cellphone use. Even if investigations simply rule out those other possible explanations, that’s better than missing important evidence because no one bothered doing a proper investigation.
Hopefully authorities have given this crash their full attention so they can make sure they’re telling the victim’s side of the story fairly. If that required another independent investigation, though, it certainly wouldn’t be the first time.
