Accident Report

July 17, 2026, two people were injured following a car accident that took place around 12:40 a.m. along West Arapaho Road.

Investigators said that the crash happened just east of the West Arapaho Road and Waterview Drive intersection.

Reports say that a 50-year-old man was in a Nissan Versa going westbound on Arapaho. A 55-year-old woman was in a Nissan Rogue going eastbound. Authorities say the Rogue was going the wrong-way when it crashed into the Versa.

Due to the accident, the Versa driver sustained serious injuries. The Rogue driver had non-life-threatening injuries. Authorities allege that the Rogue driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time, and they recommended a charge for intoxicated assault.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If the allegations here are true, then alcohol would certainly explain why a driver was on the wrong side of the road. But the decisions of the person behind the wheel may only be part of the story here. In my experience, drivers who get on the wrong side of the road are usually extremely intoxicated, and that usually means they had help getting dangerously drunk from a local bar or restaurant.

If that’s what happened here, then that could mean there’s a local alcohol provider who unlawfully over-served the alleged drunk driver and contributed to the accident. Getting a proper resolution, then, might require holding both a negligent driver and a negligent alcohol provider accountable for their actions. Is that something authorities have looked into here, or would that require further independent investigations?
