How Did This Accident Occur?
At this point, we don’t know why this SUV went off the road. Was the driver distracted or fatigued? Did he swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did the Honda accelerate unexpectedly? Did it have a problem with its steering mechanism? These are the kind of things that authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.
Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident by poring over vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage.
Maybe it will prove easy to sort out the cause of this crash, if the driver admits the inadvertently steered off the road while reaching for a dropped cell phone.
Maybe the driver is hurt badly enough that he can’t speak for himself, so investigators must rely on data from the Honda’s engine control module to piece together what happened.
No matter what, this investigation should answer any lingering questions those affected by this crash have about what happened on Saline Creek Road.
