How Did This Accident Occur?
Initial reports indicate a semi-truck crashed into a car that was stopped to make a turn, but we don’t know why it happened. Was the truck driver distracted or fatigued? Did the truck have an issue with its brakes or steering mechanism?
Investigators should try to answer these questions as they work to reconstruct this crash. They also should scrutinize the trucking company’s hiring policies and maintenance records.
The Ford driver’s family deserves to know if the truck driver was hired despite a history of crashes or whether the company had delayed needed maintenance on the truck.
