June 10, 2026, a South Carolina man was injured in an 18-wheeler accident at 8:40 a.m. along US Highway 54
Preliminary information about the accident says that it happened a few miles southwest of Texhoma off Farm-to-Market 119.
According to officials, a 42-year-old man from Sumter, South Carolina, was in a Kenworth tractor-trailer going eastbound along the highway. Somehow, the truck lost control and crashed. The truck driver reportedly had serious injuries due to the crash.
Right now, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
How Did This Accident Occur?
I often talk on hereabout the importance of considering all possible factors after single-vehicle accidents. As common as it is for this sort of thing to be the result of driver error, there are plenty of factors drivers can’t always avoid. With commercial vehicles, that list is actually quite a bit longer. For example: cargo shifts. Sometimes, workers fail to properly load cargo, or the way they secure the cargo fails during normal transit. If something heavy falls over while a truck is going 60 MPH or more, that can easily cause their truck to lose control. It’s important, then, that a possibility like this is included in the crash investigations. Did authorities do that here? If not, that could be a sign that independent professionals may need to step in so nothing important slips through the cracks.
