A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2017 Ford F-350 with a trailer was turning from F.M. 918 when it collided with a southbound 2010 Toyota Tundra, causing the pickup to catch fire.
Toyota driver Luis Vega Ceja, 43, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report, while his passenger, another 43-year-old man, suffered minor injuries.
The truck driver was not injured, the report states.

How Did This Accident Occur?
It’s not clear at this point how this collision happened. Did the Ford yield before making its turn? Was the Toyota speeding? Did one of the vehicles have a mechanical issue that contributed to this crash? These are the kind of questions that authorities must consider as they work to reconstruct this accident.
Investigators likely will start by poring over physical evidence, witness statements, data from the vehicles and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.
If authorities suspect a mechanical problem had something to do with this accident, a qualified expert should examine the vehicles in a laboratory setting. Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time or training for that kind of inspection, in my experience, but the injured driver and his family deserve to know as much as possible about what caused this crash.
