Accident Report
June 6, 2026, a child was killed and Leosha Livings was injured following a car accident at around 3:11 a.m. along College Street.
According to initial details about the crash, it happened near the intersection of College Street and I-10. Authorities said that 46-year-old Leosha Livings was driving a Buick eastbound along College Street. Somehow, the vehicle went into oncoming lanes, and it crashed head-on with a Ford Expedition.
Due to the collision, a 7-year-old child in one of the vehicles sustained fatal injuries. Leosha Livings had apparently serious injuries. The Ford driver reportedly had minor injuries.
At this time, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
How Did This Accident Occur?
This early in the morning, fatigue is often a common factor in serious accidents. I can’t say one way or the other if that happened here. However, I saw news reports which described the events happening just after the Buick proceeded from a stop when a light turned green. That makes me wonder why the vehicle lost control so quickly. Have investigators looked into a possible vehicle defect? Have they preserved the vehicle so specialists with the right tools and training can at least rule it out?
Frankly, I have concerns when it comes to authorities handling possible mechanical defect investigations. Not many departments prioritize accident reconstruction highly, and that means officers rarely have the training and equipment it takes to do a proper defect inspection. I can’t begin to count how many investigations I’ve been a part of where independent inspectors had to go back over authorities’ efforts because the work just wasn’t up to standards.
Even if nothing like a defect led to this crash, it’s important victims and families know there will be a complete accounting of the facts. That’s especially true when a crash takes the life of a child. Finding out the cause of the crash is one thing. Finding out if it’s something that could be putting others at risk is another. Either authorities can show they’re going beyond the surface to find out what happened here, or there may need to be secondary efforts to see nothing important slips through the cracks.
