May 20, 2026, Britt Cortina was injured due to a truck accident that happened at around 10:44 p.m. along Interstate 10.

Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened several miles northwest of San Antonio between Comfort and Boerne.

It appears that 35-year-old Britt Cortina was in a Kia Soul going eastbound along the interstate. A Peterbilt semi-truck was going the same direction. The vehicles somehow collided. Britt Cortina reportedly had serious injuries due to the crash.

Officials reported no other injuries. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

How Did This Accident Occur?

When vehicles going the same direction crash, it’s usually because someone was on their phone or following too closely. Maybe that happened here, but it’s always best to let the evidence tell the story. For all anyone knows, this was an unusual or perhaps even unavoidable crash.

For example, have authorities inspected the vehicles for defects? Brakes, steering columns, brake lights, crash avoidance systems, accelerators—a lot of things can go wrong on passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles alike. If authorities don’t take the time to inspect for these possible issues, evidence might be lost.

That’s why it’s concerning just how often I see authorities treat crashes like the one described here as simple or routine. There might not be anything complex to investigate, but if investigations never consider that to begin with, they can easily miss something important when unusual things do happen.

So, it’s up to victims and families to determine if they’re satisfied with answers they’re getting from authorities. If it seems like they’re being fair and thorough, that’s good. If it seems like they’re moving on too quickly or being too shallow, that may be a sign to put the investigations in the hands of more competent professionals.
