How Did This Accident Occur?
There isn’t much information available about who or what caused this accident. However, I find that people only ever consider possibilities where a driver did something wrong. That’s common, for sure—distracted driving, unsafe speeds, failure to yield, etc. But there are plenty of things drivers can’t necessarily avoid or prevent. Tire blowouts, vehicle defects, road hazards, medical emergencies, issues with signage or lighting, animals in the road—likely or not, these things have happened, and they’ll continue to happen.
As such, investigations should be able to confirm or rule out these possible factors. If authorities can’t assure victims and families they’re doing that, then it’s only reasonable for those families to bring in independent professionals to pick up the slack. Maybe that ultimately won’t be necessary here, but it’s something folks should always keep in mind following a serious car accident.
Do you think that’s fair, or do you think that’s just being overly cautious? Give me your take in the comments.
