How Did This Accident Occur?

Any serious car accident is going to raise familiar red flags for things like distracted driving, unsafe speeds, or following too closely. To make sure nothing slips through the cracks, though, it’s important to consider even unfamiliar, unlikely possibilities.

For example, I rarely see authorities inspect vehicles for potential defects. Sometimes, issues with brakes, tires, crash avoidance systems, or other features can prevent a driver from avoiding a crash. That can take extensive inspections from trained, well-equipped specialists to rule out. Departments don’t usually have access to that, so if they don’t bring in outside help, they might miss something important.

Likely or not, these things can happen. And even when they don’t, ruling them out only helps victims and families better tell their side of the story. So if it ever seems like authorities are overlooking that, it may be worth considering other avenues that might better cover all the bases.

Do you think I’m just being overly cautious, or do you agree it’s best to consider all angles? Give me your take in the comments.
