How Did This Accident Occur?
A driver going through a stop sign is usually pretty straight-forward. In my experience, that tends to be the result of distracted driving, fatigue, or just plain impatience. Of course, it’s always important to consider all possible factors. Maybe this is some one-in-a-million unavoidable crash involving a vehicle defect. Or, maybe the vehicle that ran the sign is a work truck, and the driver was being pressured by an unreasonable employer to meet unrealistic deadlines.
Over the years, I’ve seen just about anything one could imagine cause a crash. That’s why it can be frustrating to come across crash investigations which merely scratch the surface of possible causes for the crash. It’s not about pretending like drivers don’t make mistakes; it’s about ensuring victims and families know as much about the crash as possible so there’s no room for doubt or blame-shifting. That’s generally a good bet for getting the best possible resolutions for everyone involved.
