Accident Report
May 3, 2026, Andrew Contos and one other were injured following a car accident at around 12:54 p.m. along Highway 29.
According to initial details about the crash, it happened at the intersection of Highway 29 and Kauffman Loop, east of US 183.
It appears that 75-year-old Andrew Contos was in a Cadillac going southbound through the intersection. A Toyota Corolla going eastbound allegedly ran a red light, crashing with the Cadillac and a northbound Chevy Silverado.
Due to the crash, Andrew Contos sustained serious injuries. The driver of the Corolla had moderate injuries. Other injuries weren’t confirmed. Authorities recommended charging the Corolla driver for running the light.
How Did This Accident Occur?
If it’s true that a driver ran a red light here, that may seem like the obvious cause of the crash. But that action itself may have been the result of other issues that need to be brought to light. Was the driver on their phone? Were they working and rushing to meet an unreasonable deadline? Did their vehicle experience some kind of issues with its brakes?
Likely or not, it’s important to gather as much evidence as possible to either confirm or rule out other possible explanations. This can help to ensure nothing important slips through the cracks, but it can also strengthen the arguments for victims and families who are seeking accountability for the accident. Hopefully authorities are taking those steps here, but it wouldn’t be the first time if getting the full story required more thorough independent investigations.
