How Did This Accident Occur?

It is not clear at this point how this crash happened. Was the semi speeding? Did the other vehicle turn when it shouldn’t have? Did a mechanical issue with one of these vehicles contribute to the crash? The only way to answer these questions, in my experience, is to wait until a full investigation is completed.

Authorities likely will work to reconstruct this accident by gathering physical evidence, data from the vehicles, witness statements and any available video footage. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing before the crash, but an outside expert may be needed if investigators suspect a mechanical issue contributed to this crash.

Most law enforcement agencies don’t have the time, tools or training to conduct a forensic investigation of these vehicles to figure out if one of them had a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism that led to this accident.

The vehicle driver’s family deserves to know everything possible about this crash.
