Authorities said the incident took place just off Glenoak Drive, north of Stagecoach Road. It appears that 70-year-old Elisa Mojica and an 82-year-old man were in a Ford F-150 going westbound. A Hyundai Elantra driven by a 27-year-old man was going northbound. At the Shawn and Glenoak intersection, the vehicles collided.
Elisa Mojica, her passenger, and the Elantra driver were all injured in the crash. Right now, additional details are unavailable.
How Did This Accident Occur?
When people think of what the most likely explanations for car accidents are, they’ll usually think of distracted driving and unsafe speeds. Those are definitely common, and it wouldn’t be unusual if one or the other led to this crash. However, it’s always important to consider other possibilities even if they seem unlikely.
Hypothetically, what if this crash happened due to a missing stop sign? That’s not some out-of-nowhere example. Not long ago, I looked into a crash where that’s exactly what happened. A construction crew removed a stop sign, then forgot to replace it. People initially thought a man ran the stop sign, but it turned out there was no stop sign for him to run.
That’s obviously an unusual situation, but it was a careful, open-minded accident reconstruction that revealed the truth. If authorities have given this crash that sort of attention, then hopefully they can definitively rule out unusual possible factors here. It’s up to victims and families to decide if their questions are being answered and if they feel their side of the story is being told fairly.
