Accident Report

March 9, 2026, two people were killed and three were injured after a car accident at around 8:00 p.m. along West Godfrey Avenue.

It appears that the accident took place at the intersection of West Godfrey Avenue and 20th Street. Authorities said that a Nissan was going westbound at the time. While doing so, another vehicle crossed into the Nissan’s path, and the vehicles collided.

The unidentified driver and a 19-year-old passenger from the Nissan were killed. Two other Nissan passengers, ages 16 and 20, were also hurt. The other vehicle’s driver, a 72-year-old woman, had injuries, as well.

Right now, authorities say speed is being looked into as a potential factor. Additional details remain unconfirmed.

How Did This Accident Occur?

It’s possible that speed was indeed a factor here, but I’d have to see more information about this other vehicle supposedly pulling into the path of the Nissan. Was it coming out of a driveway? Did it pull through a stop sign? Was it making a right turn on a red light? This can create a legal controversy, as there’s no magic equation that says speeding is more or less bad than, for example, failure to yield. It’s up to the evidence unique to the crash to tell the story, and ultimately it’s a jury who decides which driver is more likely than not the one responsible for the crash. To that end, it’s generally the side that has the most evidence telling their story that is likely to have things go their way.
