How Did This Accident Occur?

With the investigation still in progress, there is still very little that the general public knows about what happened in this car accident. I do think it’s important, however, to refrain from jumping to conclusions. After all, any number of things might have been at play. I feel qualified to say this, seeing as how I’ve analyzed hundreds of pedestrian-involved accidents over the years.

There are several things I’m curious about with this accident, in particular. It happened quite late at night. What was the street lighting like in that area? Is there enough pedestrian infrastructure—like sidewalks and crosswalks? Does that area have a history of pedestrian involved accidents?

My mind also turns to the vehicle, itself, that struck the pedestrian. Were it’s headlights functioning properly? Was it equipped with pedestrian detection systems that might have failed? How are the brakes and the steering. Was there a mechanical malfunction with either of those that might have contributed to the pickup being unable to stop or steer away in time to avoid hitting the pedestrian?

If the investigation is thorough enough, then all of these questions will be answered. Let me know in a comment whether or not you agree, but if the authorities, for some reason, did not have the resources to go into enough depth, then a third party investigation is also an option. After all, the victim deserves to know all the hard facts that create the big picture, not just flimsy assumptions that leave holes and gaps in their understanding.
