Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
People often overlook train accidents and assume there’s nothing unusual to consider. However, we shouldn’t base whether or not there’s a thorough investigation on what the most likely explanation is. We should base it off of whether or not families deserve answers. They almost always do.
So have authorities here looked at this crossing? Are there issues with visibility? Issues with crossing signals or warning signs? Did authorities inspect the victims’ vehicle for potential defects? Have they preserved electronic data? At the end of the day, the victims’ loved ones deserve to know they’re getting the whole story. That comes from making sure no stone goes unturned.
