Galveston County, TX — January 5, 2026, Sebastian Cornejo and one other were injured after a car accident at around 6:55 a.m. along Highway 6.
Authorities said in preliminary statements that the accident happened between Santa Fe and Alvin at Avenue B.
Investigators said that 19-year-old Sebastian Cornejo was a passenger in a Chevy Tahoe going along TX-6. In events unclear, the vehicle lost control and crashed along the highway. Sebastian Cornejo reportedly was seriously injured. The 19-year-old driver of the Tahoe had less severe injures, according to officials.

My hope with any crash involving a teen driver is that investigators are being fair. Too often, I see people jump to conclusions based on their own preconceived biases of how teens driver. At the end of the day, though, it’s up to the evidence to say what happened. Young or old, the facts tell the story, and it’s important for a crash to be handled by professionals who can set their bias aside and consider things from all angles. If authorities have done that here, that’s good. However, it’s possible getting an unbiased account of what happened here may require more thorough independent investigations.
