Frio County, TX — December 21, 2025, Fernando Romo was killed as the result of a car accident at around 1:59 a.m. along Oak Street.
Investigators said they were called to the intersection of South Oak Street (Business I-35) and Margo Drive.
According to officials, 19-year-old Fernando Romo was in a Chevy Silverado going westbound along the roadway. The vehicle lost control, and it crashed. Fernando Romo reportedly sustained fatal injuries due to the accident.
There did not appear to be anyone else involved in the crash, according to officials. No further information is available.

My hope is that authorities haven’t jumped to conclusions and are actually giving the crash the attention it deserves. Too often with teenage drivers, I see folks make assumptions rather than actually digging into the facts. At the end of the day, any number of things could have led to this crash. It’s important to let the evidence tell the story and not let bias get in the way. If authorities have been able to put their bias aside, that would be good to hear. But when crashes like this occur, and families feel that details aren’t adding up, it might be time to have independent investigators look into things.
