Denton County, TX — October 27, 2025, Tara Hammons and one other were injured following a car accident at around 9:18 p.m. along Farm-to-Market 720.

Authorities said that the accident took place in the area of University Drive.

It appears that 36-year-old Tara Hammons was in a Chevy Silverado going westbound along US 380/University. An eastbound Toyota Camry reportedly attempted to make a left turn at the FM 720 intersection. That vehicle allegedly failed to yield, resulting in a collision with the Chevy.

Authorities say Tara Hammons had serious injuries while a passenger in the Toyota had non-critical injuries. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman

People generally think that car accidents are always open-and-shut due to how common they are. Authorities do their investigations, and that’s that. What I always tell folks, though, is it can be important to ask some key questions early on. Authorities aren’t always being as thorough as people may think.

  1. Did the officers have enough time and equipment to dig into the details thoroughly?
  2. Were the vehicles involved inspected for defects, either that led to the crash or resulted in serious injuries?
  3. Has all electronic evidence been secured (cellphones, GPS, cameras, vehicle data, etc.)?

In my experience, if authorities can provide clear answers to these questions, it’s a good sign their investigations were thorough. But if their answers come up short, that can be a sign that the crash needs a second look from more experienced independent investigators.
