Houston County, TX — June 23, 2024, Kaleigh Stephens and two children were injured as the result of a hit-and-run accident at 1:56 a.m. along FM 229.
According to initial details from authorities, the crash happened near the intersection of FM 229/Old Navaho Road and County Road 2115 outside of Crockett.
Investigators said that 31-year-old Kaleigh Dann Stephens and two children were in a Honda Odyssey traveling northwest on FM 229. Authorities say that the Honda and an oncoming Ford F-150 collided. The Ford driver then allegedly fled the scene on foot.
Due to the collision, Kaleigh Stephens and the two kids had reportedly serious injuries. Right now, it’s unclear if authorities have located the runaway driver.

If the alleged runaway driver here remains unidentified, it might be a good idea for authorities to put out more statements to the public. Even this long after the accident, someone may be able to connect some dots and ID the driver. That way, there can be accountability for leaving the scene and for any possible wrongdoings that led them to flee in the first place.
