Rollover accidents like this can be a lot more complex than people realize, usually due to the fact authorities don’t always see them as a priority. It’s important that all kinds of factors—including vehicle data and inspection for potential defects—get attention from experienced investigators. If authorities move on too quickly or jump to conclusions, that might not happen.

On top of that, a truck pulling a trailer raises the question of whether or not this was a work vehicle. There are two primary reasons that matters. For one, work vehicles bring up new angles that need to be looked at. Was the truck not being repaired regularly? Were workers given faulty equipment? Are they working unreasonable hours or pressured to meet unrealistic deadlines?

Second, Texas happens to have the most complex work injury law of any other state in the country. Despite what many think, there isn’t always an automatic path through workers’ comp to get workers and families the benefits they need. That means there may be a legal maze that takes a lot of preparation and legal strategy to navigate.

However you slice it, investigating a crash like this is anything but simple. That’s why it’s important those involved know what steps are being taken to handle the crash. If they feel authorities are asking the right questions and considering all angles, that’s likely a sign the crash is in good hands. But if it feels like no one’s making any progress, or if the path ahead seems unclear, that may be a good time to have a fresh set of eyes look things over.
