1 Killed in Bus Accident on 51st Street in New York, NY

New York, NY — January 26, 2025, one person was killed in a bus accident at about 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 51st Street and 5th Avenue.

Authorities said a Metropolitan Transportation Authority bus hit the arm of a boom lift that a worker had been using to install a new billboard at a retail store.

The worker, a 37-year-old man whose name has not been made public at this time, fell about 20 feet from the lift’s bucket, according to authorities. He died at a local hospital.

No other injuries were reported.
