Reagan County, TX — February 16, 2024, two people were injured in a Caterpillar versus car accident at approximately 11:35 a.m. along Southland Royalty Road.
According to authorities, a 24-year-old man was traveling in a northwest bound Chevrolet 5500 truck behind a Caterpillar backhoe occupied by a 48-year-old man on Southland Royalty Road in the vicinity northwest of the Adwell Ranch Road intersection when the accident occurred.

The Chevy truck reportedly moved over to the southeast bound lane in order to make a legal pass of the Caterpillar on the left. However, the Caterpillar allegedly made an unsafe left turn onto a private road in front of the truck. This resulted in collision between the front end of the truck and the back of the Caterpillar. The collision caused the Caterpillar to overturn, coming to rest on its right side.
The man from the backhoe incurred suspected severe injuries as a result of the wreck, while the other man involved sustained apparently minor injuries. They were each transported to local medial facilities in order to receive necessary treatment.
Additional details pertaining to this incident—including the identities of those involved—are not available at this point in time. The investigation is currently ongoing.
