Harris County, TX — November 12, 2023, David Alan Diaz was injured following a car accident at around 3:30 a.m. along Harvey Road.
Authorities said in preliminary statements on the crash that it occurred in the area of the Harvey Road and Rattan Lane intersection, northeast of Crosby.
According to officials, 27-year-old David Diaz was in a Jeep Gladiator said to be going northbound on Harvey. The vehicle somehow lost control, went off the left side of the road, then flipped over along the ditch. Diaz was seriously injured as a result, authorities said. Right now, the cause of the crash hasn’t been confirmed.

Some folks might be quick to assume what happened here, but let me explain why it’s important to wait for the facts. For one, single-vehicle crashes can actually be rather complex. Anything from mechanical failure to road design flaws to tire blowouts to manufacturers’ defects can cause a vehicle to lose control and crash.
Are those things as common as, for example, distraction or drunk driving? Of course not, but simply jumping to conclusions without looking at the facts means something important is bound to slip through the cracks. Right now, there just isn’t enough information available to the public to know if authorities looked into every possibility here. Ultimately, it comes down to this question: Do the people affected by the accident feel authorities are fairly telling their side of the story?
