Dallas, TX — December 8, 2023, Fatima Jove Correa and two others were hurt following a car accident at around 3:11 a.m. on Walton Walker Boulevard.
Investigators said in their statements on the crash that it happened in the area of the Loop 12 and Singleton Boulevard intersection.
According to officials, 21-year-old Fatima Jove Correa was a passenger in a Honda Accord that was going southbound on Walton Walker. That vehicle lost control, causing it to go left onto the median where it struck a barrier. The vehicle then flipped over along the median before going between Loop 12 lanes and down an embankment onto Singleton below.

As a result of the crash, Jove Correa was taken from the scene with apparently serious injuries. The driver and another passenger in the Honda reportedly had moderate injuries. Right now, details allege that the Honda driver, a 20-year-old, was under the influence of alcohol at the time. This and other details have not been confirmed right now.

Any allegation of drunk driving is serious enough on its own. But certain factors here make me wonder if there’s more to the story. The alleged drunk driver was apparently 20 years old at the time of the accident. If it’s true alcohol caused this crash, was that alcohol illegally sold to the driver?
Here’s why that’s so important. It likely isn’t news to anyone that it’s illegal to serve alcohol to someone under the age of 21. But something I’ve found throughout my career is that alcohol providers like bars or clubs who engage in one reckless behavior are likely to engage in others.
Our firm has confronted hundreds of alcohol providers over the years, holding them liable when they over-serve people who go on to get someone hurt. But while we’re investigating those establishments for over-service of alcohol, we often find other violations, such as serving minors, serving after hours, failing to report violent incidents, and other such negligent behavior. Left unchecked, those alcohol provider would just continue violating alcohol provider regulations until more people got hurt. That’s why it’s so important to call them out and see they’re held accountable as soon as possible.
So when I see a crash at just an hour or so after bars close, and the person accused of causing the crash is underage, I can’t help but wonder if one such negligent alcohol provider may have been involved. Is that something authorities ever looked into here?
