Commentary by Attorney Michael Grossman
With authorities saying there’s reason to believe the driver here was drunk, I have to wonder if they’re currently trying to find out where that driver was prior to the crash. It was a big day for football fans yesterday, and that usually means a lot of people are out watching the game and drinking. Could it be that a local alcohol provider contributed to this crash and needs to be held accountable, as well?
When I talk about helping victims and families confront negligent alcohol providers after an accident, people tend to envision dive bars or clubs. In reality, sports bars and restaurants are some of the worst offenders when it comes to over-serving people. That’s especially true when they’re taking advantage of a particularly busy night. Considering Harris County is usually more proactive in working with the TABC to track down negligent alcohol providers, there may be more than just an allegedly drunk driver put in cuffs as investigations continue here.
