Corpus Christi, TX — September 20, 2023, Oscar Ortiz Jr. was killed following a car accident that happened around 10:18 p.m. on Northwest Boulevard.
According to initial details about the accident, the crash happened near the intersection of Northwest Boulevard (F.M. 624) and East Riverview Drive.
Investigators said that 50-year-old Oscar Ortiz Jr. was on a Honda motorcycle going westbound along Northwest Boulevard. While doing so, a Honda Civic somehow rear-ended Ortiz’s motorcycle, throwing him from the bike. This ultimately resulted in fatal injuries.

Police said only in preliminary statements that failure to control speed was a contributing factor here. One thing I did not see is any indication of a pending toxicology test. Why is that? I’ve known many police departments who would order tests fro drugs and alcohol after any fatal crash, let alone for an allegedly at-fault driver this late at night. Is this just a mistake on the public statements, or did authorities not conduct a thorough investigation into what all caused this crash?
