Accident Report
September 13, 2026, two people were injured following a single-vehicle car accident at 12:57 a.m. along County Road 3100.
Authorities said that the crash happened northeast of Lubbock near the County Road 3100 and East Kent Street intersection.
It appears that a 36-year-old man and a 16-year-old were in a Hyundai Santa Fe going westbound. The vehicle somehow ran off-road, and it crashed. Both occupants were injured as a result.
Right now, the exact cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.
How Did This Accident Occur?
Single-vehicle crashes tend to raise common red flags for things like distracted driving or speeding. A proper investigation, however, needs to consider more than just common factors. Even unusual, possibly unavoidable factors need attention. I’ve even seen things like a missing stop sign removed by TxDOT lead to accidents. Maybe the vehicle had some kind of unexpected defect. Ultimately, it’s up to the evidence to tell the story, and if people are just focused on looking for blame, evidence might slip through the cracks. That’s why I hope this crash has been getting enough attention from investigators so that there’s no doubts about what happened.
