How Did This Accident Occur?

At this point, it is not clear why this collision happened. Was the truck driver distracted or fatigued? Did the truck swerve to avoid another vehicle? Did it have a problem with its brakes or steering mechanism? Authorities should consider questions like this to get to the bottom of what caused this crash.

The answers will come as investigators gather vehicle data, physical evidence, witness statements and available video footage to reconstruct this accident. Cell phone records could show what each driver was doing at the time.

Authorities also should look at the trucking company’s records to see if the driver was adequately trained or had exceeded the allowable number of hours on the road before the crash. Its records also should show if the truck was overdue for any scheduled maintenance or repairs.

This investigation should answer any lingering questions the Lexus driver’s family has about this crash.
