Accident Report

September 18, 2026, Yoriel Cabrera was injured after an alleged drunk driver accident late Friday off Crowley Road.

According to initial details released, the incident happened outside of a pool hall off the corner of Crowley Road and I-20.

Reports say that 22-year-old Yoriel Cabrera and others were outside of the pool hall at the time when an argument with another patron occurred. Some time after that, police say that other person struck Yoriel Cabrera with a vehicle.

Due to the incident, Yoriel Cabrera reportedly sustained serious injuries. Reports say the driver was arrested for aggravated assault and intoxication assault. Right now, additional details are unavailable as investigations continue.

How Did This Accident Occur?

If the allegations here are accurate, then it seems pretty clear that someone either recklessly or intentionally got behind the wheel of a vehicle drunk and struck the victim. It’s not surprising to see such serious reported charges with details like that. What might surprise people, though, is that even if that driver is found guilty, that might not be the end of the story.

For example, I have to wonder if authorities are also investigating the establishment where this occurred. Was there anything security could have done to stop this? Are there frequently violent incidents here, and is the venue reporting them to proper authorities? Did the establishment unlawfully over-serve the suspect involved in this collision to the point that it contributed to the incident? Do they have external cameras that captured the incident on video?

These are just some of the questions I hope are getting attention here. At the end of the day, putting someone in cuffs is just part of a larger story. If at all possible, steps should always be taken to do right by victims and families as well as to make sure there isn’t still any danger to the public.
