Amarillo, TX — April 30, 2023, William Gray was killed and Deandre Cooper was hurt after a semi-truck accident at around 5:25 a.m. along U.S. Highway 287.
According to initial details provided by the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash happened a few miles east of Amarillo near the intersection of the Armstrong, Carson, Potter, and Randall County lines.

Initial details about the crash say that it involved 22-year-old William Gray of Hereford, who was said to be the driver of a Kia Spectra. That Kia may have been going northwest along the southeast lanes, authorities alleged. While doing so, the Kia crossed paths and collided with an oncoming semi-truck.
Due to the severity of the collision, authorities pronounced Gray deceased at the scene of the crash. Cooper was said to have been taken to a hospital in Amarillo for treatment of injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. No other injuries were confirmed.
Details leading up to the fatal crash are still under investigation at this time.
