Dimmit County, TX — February 16, 2023, a Weslaco man was injured as the result of a semi-truck accident at around 8:30 a.m. along U.S. Highway 83.
Authorities said that they were called out to the area of U.S. Highway 83 near mile marker 642.
Their preliminary investigations apparently showed that a 27-year-old Weslaco man was behind the wheel of a Freightliner tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer was rounding a curve along the highway. While doing so, the cargo tank the truck was pulling went to the side and skidded off-road. The trailer then overturned, pulling the truck with it off the side of the highway.
The Weslaco man was said to have incapacitating injuries due to the crash. No others were said to be involved in the crash. The trailer apparently leaked petroleum crude oil due to being ruptured in the crash. At this time, a specific cause for the accident is unconfirmed and requires more thorough accident reconstructions. No further information is currently available.
