How Did This Accident Occur?
A crash like this is one that always has me reminding people not to make any snap judgements about what happened. It’s easy to assume that the Buick driver wasn’t paying attention as traffic slowed because of road construction, but what if the truck ahead of him didn’t have working brake lights? Or what if his SUV had a problem with its brakes that prevented it from stopping?
Investigators should consider these possibilities as they’re going over evidence from the scene, data from the vehicles and any available traffic or dashcam footage of the crash, so they can determine exactly how this accident unfolded. An independent expert may be needed to examine the vehicles for mechanical defects that may have contributed to this crash.
