New London, CT — April 21, 2023, Wallace Fauquet III was killed after a commercial truck accident at around 11:00 a.m. along the Gold Star Memorial Bridge.
Preliminary details about the crash said that it happened along the southbound lanes of the bridge (I-95) in the area of New London and Groton.
Officials said that a passenger vehicle was going along southbound lanes of the bridge. Statements say there may have been a tire blowout which caused that vehicle to lose control. This blowout apparently led to a chain reaction which caused a fuel truck to crash into the back of that vehicle. The truck then flipped over and caught fire.
The driver of that truck was identified in recent reports as 42-year-old Wallace Fauquet III. Fauquet sustained fatal injuries due to the wreck. There were other injuries reported, but current information indicates those injuries were not serious. At this time, additional details about the fatal crash are unavailable.
