One Injured in Tow Truck Accident on Union Ave. in Bakersfield, CA

Bakersfield, CA — November 17, 2025, one person was injured due to a tow truck accident at around 2:30 p.m. along South Union Avenue.

Investigators said that the accident happened in the area of the South Union Avenue and Watts Drive intersection.

According to officials, a tow truck and a Dodge Charger were going in opposite directions along Union Avenue. For reasons not clear right now, the vehicles collided head-on. One person was seriously injured as a result.

Did the driver who crossed over actually do something wrong? Was there a tire blowout? A medical emergency? Hazards in the road? Even if they did something wrong, are authorities preserving enough evidence? Cellphone records, vehicle data, video from nearby cameras, toxicology reports, etc. Ultimately, a crash is not open-and-shut because it’s easy to say what happened. It’s important to know the full story, especially when determining why it happened.
