Benbrook, TX — March 20, 2023, Sandra Everett sustained injuries following a car accident at around 4:00 p.m. on Benbrook Boulevard.
Authorities said calls came in just after 4:00 p.m. for a crash along U.S. Highway 380 at Sproles Drive.
Details suggest that 83-year-old Sandra Everett was a passenger in a Honda Ridgeline which was northbound along Benbrook Boulevard. From oncoming lanes, it appears that a Ford Expedition made a left turn and allegedly failed to yield. The two vehicles collided as a result.

Sandra Everett was said to have non-incapacitating injuries following the crash. Neither driver was said to have sustained injuries. Police initially alleged that the driver of the Ford was under the influence of alcohol at the time.

It’s said that the Ford driver was arrested for intoxicated assault. I wouldn’t be able to confirm those allegations without seeing evidence myself. It may seem unusual to see someone drunk behind the wheel at 4:00 in the afternoon. While less common compared to crashes at 2:00 a.m., for example, it’s definitely not unheard of. It might surprise folks to see all the different times and situations in which someone drives drunk.
For example, some may have seen the recent story about the crash a couple of years ago where an allegedly drunk driver hit and killed an off-duty officer. Evidence revealed that driver may have been severely over-served by a local restaurant, for which that restaurant is also now facing possible criminal and civil consequences. That wasn’t some dead of night, after last call incident. That happened during daylight hours.
That’s why investigators have to be thorough at all times of the day. Regardless of what ultimately happened in this particular accident, all kinds of factors can contribute to a crash like this. Victims and families need to be sure they aren’t missing anything important, especially when there may be people or businesses in need of a serious wake up call.
