A preliminary accident report indicates that a 2019 Ford Explorer was heading northwest when it collided with an unknown vehicle in a construction zone near Rock Prairie Road.

Ford driver Samantha Simmons, 33, was seriously injured in the crash, according to the report.

A 23-year-old man riding with her suffered minor injuries, the report states.

The report does not include any information about the other vehicle.

How Did This Accident Occur?

Early morning crashes usually leave a large number of questions in their wake. Was the driver fatigued? Did one of the vehicles make an unexpected move? Did the construction zone change traffic patterns in the area where the crash occurred?

It’s hard to answer those questions right now since authorities don’t appear to know anything about the other vehicle involved in the crash. Their investigation may be able to identify that vehicle by scrutinizing nearby traffic or security cameras. That also could help sort out how the crash happened.
