Accident Report

September 4, 2026, a Rosharon man was injured following a truck accident that happened around 6:50 a.m. along I-10.

Preliminary information about the accident says that the crash took place along eastbound lanes of the interstate near the rest stop just west of Mendel Road.

According to officials, a 22-year-old Rosharon man was in a Ford F-250 pulling a trailer along I-10. A 64-year-old man was in a Freightliner 18-wheeler going the same direction. For reasons unclear, reports say that the Ford crashed into the back of the 18-wheeler.

Due to the accident, the Rosharon man sustained serious injuries. No other injuries were reported. At this time, the cause of the crash remains unconfirmed.

How Did This Accident Occur?

I know a lot of people will assume this crash involved something like distracted driving, unsafe speeds, or fatigue due simply to the fact the victim rear-ended another vehicle. However, there are plenty of reasons why that might happen without the driver really doing anything wrong. Just as an example, I recall a crash a while back where initial reports say a driver failed to slow down and rear-ended a semi-truck on a dark highway. It took weeks before authorities reported that the crash was actually the result of that semi-truck merging off the shoulder without its lights on.

I’m not at all saying that happened here, but that’s a good reason why you shouldn’t jump to conclusions. Rear-end collisions do not have some automatic rules for who’s at fault. It’s still important to consider all the facts and reconstruct the events accurately. If authorities are doing that here, that’s good. If not, then it might take more thorough independent investigations to get the facts.
