February 8, 2026, Ricardo Ortega Garcia was injured due to a single-car accident just after 2:30 a.m. along Interstate Highway 27.

According to authorities, 24-year-old Ricardo Ortega Garcia was traveling in a Kia Optima on I-27 in the vicinity northeast of County Road T when the accident took place. Officials indicate that, for reasons yet to be confirmed, the Kia failed to safely maintain its lane of travel. It was consequently involved in a single-vehicle collision in which it apparently struck a median barrier and overturned.

If the steering malfunctioned, then it would be virtually impossible for the driver to safely pilot the vehicle, and he was seriously injured as a result.
