How Did This Accident Occur?

Without more information, it might be easy for folks to judge and blame the victim for what happened in this accident. Just because it seems reckless to be traveling on a highway in a pickup’s bed does not mean that there weren’t any factors involved which were outside of the victims’ control. The driver could have been fatigued, distracted, or even impaired in some way that led the truck to maneuver in a manner that dislodged the passenger. Or the pickup itself could have had a steering mechanism problem that made the passenger fall. Hopefully investigators—whether the authorities or, if need be, a third party—are as meticulous and openminded as they need to be in order to get to the bottom of it.
