UPDATE (February 16, 2024): Recent reports have been released which clarify what happened leading up to and during this accident. According to these reports, a Dodge Charger had suffered a flat tire and pulled over in the center median in order to have it changed. Several people were outside of the vehicle, at least one of which was apparently trying to signal traffic to slow.
An Acura slowed after having seen the pedestrian signally it to slow. However, a Mustang which had been behind the Acura swerved left and entered the median, allegedly to avoid a rear-end collision with the Acura. However, because of this maneuver, the Mustang struck the disabled Charger and three of the pedestrians. It then reportedly returned to the roadway where it was involved in another collision with a Volkswagen Jetta before coming to a stop in the right-hand shoulder where it was abandoned by the driver.
38-year-old Perla Vasquez incurred fatal injuries after being struck by the Mustang; she was declared deceased at the scene. 19-year-old Daimien Sigala and a 15-year-old minor each sustained suspected severe injuries, as well. They were transported to a local medical facility by EMS in order to receive necessary treatment. No other injuries have been reported.

El Paso, TX — December 16, 2023, one person was killed and two others were injured in a car accident around 7:30 p.m. along Interstate 10.
According to authorities, the accident took place in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 10 in the vicinity of Sunset Heights.
It is unclear at this point in time how many vehicles were involved, but it has been confirmed that there were three victims. Preliminary reports state that one victim incurred fatal injuries as a result of the crash, having been declared deceased at the scene. Two other people, however, reportedly sustained severe injuries and were transported to a local medical facility by emergency medical services in order to receive immediate treatment.
