How Did This Accident Occur?
We don’t know much about this crash at this point. Was the pedestrian trying to cross the street, or walking alongside it? Was the area well lit? Did the tow truck driver brake or swerve before the collision? Did the truck have a mechanical problem that prevented it from stopping? These are the kind of questions that authorities must consider as they investigate this crash.
Investigators will work to reconstruct this accident using vehicle data, physical evidence, witness accidents and available video footage, while cell phone records could help track the pedestrian’s movements and show what the tow truck driver was doing at the time.
Authorities also should look into the towing company to determine if it adequately trained and vetted the driver, or if the truck was overdue for any scheduled maintenance or repairs.
This investigation should answer any lingering questions the pedestrian and his family have about this accident.
