How Did This Accident Occur?

There are always common factors to consider after any car accident. Most often, distracted driving and unsafe speeds are going to be first on any investigator’s list. My concern, though, is some folks are quicker to jump to conclusions when the victim was on a motorcycle.

I know from experience that a lot of riders are safe drivers who are vulnerable to larger vehicles, poorly maintained roads, and other unavoidable factors. But if people let their bias get in the way, they might overlook all of that and just blame the rider without actually looking at the evidence.

Hopefully authorities here have been careful not to let their bias get in the way, but it’s up to the victims and families involved to trust their instincts and seek out a second opinion if they feel authorities aren’t looking at the details with a fair eye.

Do any other motorcyclists out there have experience dealing with this sort of bias? Share your stories in the comments.
