Accident Report

February 13, 2026, a Mission man and one other were injured after a car accident at around 12:15 p.m. along FM 2119.

According to officials, the crash happened several miles northwest of Pecos at the intersection of FM 2119 and County Road 232.

Authorities say that a 37-year-old Mission man was in a Ford F-150 going southeast. A different Ford pickup was going southbound. At the crossing, authorities say the southbound pickup disregarded the traffic sign, and the vehicles collided.

Reports say both drivers sustained injuries. The Mission man’s injuries reportedly were serious. Authorities recommended charging the southbound driver for disobeying warning signs.

How Did This Accident Occur?

While there are some specific details still unclear right now, failing to heed a warning device or traffic signal is usually the result of distracted driving. That’s why cellphones are the first thing we look at when we get a serious accident case. That data almost always proves vital, even if the cellphone wasn’t actually the cause of the crash.

Common as that may be, it’s important investigations cover other possibilities, too. Even something uncommon, like brake failure, should get attention. It’s up to the evidence to ultimately say what did or didn’t happen. This gives victims and families the best tools to tell their side of the story and see there’s a fair resolution. In my experience, there are virtually no exceptions to this kind of thorough approach. Although, if someone thinks they know one, I’m all ears.
