Franklin, TX — May 23, 2022, Maurhys Johnson was fatally injured due to a work accident involving electrocution at a job site off East Highway 79.
Details provided by OSHA officials in their public investigation summary report say that the incident occurred at 10:30 a.m. in the 7200 block of East Highway 79, which appears to be off the corner of FM 2549.

It appears that 42-year-old Maurhys Johnson was with a co-worker working to replace industrial lights. OSHA investigators allege that “tag in, tag out” procedures were bypassed during this process. As a result, Johnson somehow came into contact with a live part or wire, causing a shock. Johnson then fell approximately 10 feet.
Maurhys Johnson’s injuries ultimately proved fatal. The other work was not said to be injured. Right now, the OSHA summary is listed as “open”, and further information can’t be confirmed at this time. The reports do list at least two alleged violations that investigators looked into. Potential additional violations are pending further investigations.
