How Did This Accident Occur?
When vehicles at an intersection like this, most people will likely assume somebody was just on their phone not paying attention. That’s a common possibility, for sure. But accident reconstructions should be able to consider both common and uncommon possible factors alike.
For example, what if one of the vehicles experienced a mechanical issue due to an unknown vehicle defect? That’s not something a cursory glance at the vehicles is likely to catch. It more often needs thorough inspections of the vehicle with the proper tools from experienced professionals.
Has that happened here? Frankly, it would surprise me if authorities went out of their way to look into that without victims and families demanding it. It’s possible, though, authorities here are being more thorough than usual. It’s just not something I would take for granted, which is why it’s generally better to follow up with authorities and find out what all they’re looking into.
