February 9, 2026, LaRyzen Malik Hurdle was killed as the result of a work accident that happened along Highway 195.

Details are scarce right now. OSHA released an inspection detail that identified the employer as “Kept Companies, Inc.” and classified the work as “Car Washes.”

According to OSHA, their inspection following the death of LaRyzen Hurdle led to at least one alleged violation and a recommended penalty. The incident appears to still be under investigation.

How Did This Accident Occur?

However, some people mistake that to mean the worker’s loved ones are going to get answers and a just resolution. In short, Texas has the most complex work fatality laws in the whole country. There is not always a guaranteed path for a worker’s family to receive benefits, hold people accountable, or otherwise see an end to the story. A lot of times, that burden falls to them, which is why so many families seek out professionals who can advocate for their needs. Sometimes, employers step up and do right by families. Some do everything in their power to make things more difficult. Either way, so long as families have clear evidence and the right legal tools and strategies, they’ll be in a position to work toward a fair and just resolution.

So while I can’t say what happened here, I can say from experience that any path forward in a situation like this is bound to involve unique challenges. Hopefully someone has been looking out for the needs of this worker’s loved ones to prepare them for those challenges.
